Tiger Woods returns to winning ways - looks unhappy with the media
The 14-time major champion Tiger Woods has finally returned to winning ways after spending about two years without a win, since his victory in the Australian Masters, in November, 2009.
Throughout two years, he was strongly criticized for his lost form. Even the golf commentators started believing that Woods’ career had ended after he suffered injuries and faced family issues in 2009.
However, he ended the winning drought with a win in the Chevron World Challenge in December last year. Yet, he failed to silence his critics, as it was considered an easy victory.
In March, 2012, he finally broke the two-year losing streak on the PGA Tour, after winning the Arnold Palmer Invitational, with a five-stroke margin over Graeme McDowell.
That was a time when he gave a hint of his return to prime form. He recorded another two wins at the Memorial Tournament and the AT&T National to become the only player to win three tournaments in the 2012 PGA Tour season so far.
Right after his win in the AT&T National, it seems that he has finally succeeded in silencing his critics after a two-year struggle.
However, he does not look happy with the media and the journalists who asked him irritating questions during the bad days of his career.
"I have to deal with it in every single press conference," he said. "I have to answer it in post-round interviews — whether it's with your guys or in a live shot [on TV]. You do that for a couple of years, sometimes you guys can be a little annoying".
He was talking to the media in a pre-tournament press conference at the Greenbrier Resort in White Sulphur Springs, where he is scheduled to tee off this week for the Greenbrier Classic.
It will be his first ever appearance at the Old White TPC course. He looks confident to make another good run while making preparations for the Open Championship, scheduled this month.
"If you have a positive tournament, you try and ride that," Woods said, who recently became the second highest PGA Tour winner with 74 victories in total. "If you have a negative tournament, you treat it like it didn't exist".
