Tiger Woods says injury led to his withdrawal from the Cadillac Championship
Tiger Woods had not shared his views about the early withdrawal from the Cadillac Championship, but now he has revealed the truth.
The 36-year-old American professional golf player was playing tremendously at the World Golf Championship (WGC) staged tournament in Florida.
However, unfortunately, he was unable to finish the event, as he had sustained an injury on the left leg.
This was the second time in three years he has faced health issues. As in 2010, he was also injured during the Masters Tournament.
He only shared that "It's a left leg injury,” at the Floridian site of the TPC Blue Monster at Doral, Miami.
Later the tournaments medical team revealed that he is suffering from an Achilles Heel injury, rather than the left knee injury.
"I felt tightness in my left Achilles warming up this morning, and it continued to get progressively worse. After hitting my tee shot at 12, I decided it was necessary to withdraw," Woods said.
He added, "In the past, I may have tried to continue to play, but this time, I decided to do what I thought was necessary".
Now Woods is worried as the Arnold Palmer Invitational presented by MasterCard, Shell Houston Open and the Masters Tournament are scheduled to be played in the current and the coming month.
Nevertheless, according to the former No. 1 player and current No. 18, he is recovering at a faster pace and will return to the golf course in a couple of weeks.
"I will get my Achilles evaluated sometime early next week," Woods said.
Rory McIlroy, the current No. 1, is also worried about Woods's injury and said, "It’s probably just precautionary, but I really hope he is healthy for the Masters because obviously it would be a great week with him there".
Woods' performance since January has not been so appealing. He is playing an average game.
His injury woes have emerged again and his game is going to suffer this time too. The Achilles Heel injury may become a hurdle for him in the near future.
This may affect his swing and driving to some extent. The American has to be more careful about his health, as the major tournament of the Masters will be taking place from April 5 to 8 at Augusta in Georgia.
