Tiger Woods shoots bogey-free second round at Cadillac Championship to remain in contention – Golf News
Tiger Woods had a disappointing start to his World Golf Championships - Cadillac Championship campaign with four-bogey even-par round on Thursday.
However, he had a reasonable run on the second day of the event, as he shot a bogey-free round, five-under par to finish seven strokes off the pace set by Bubba Watson.
Yet, he was unable to impress his fans with his putting that was once seen returning to form when he shot a spectacular round of eight-under par 62 in the final round of the Honda Classic last week.
He missed several birdie putts that could have earned him a better score and would have brought him closer to the top of the leaderboard.
He is currently sharing the 15th place with five other players, namely, Y.E. Yang, Hennie Otto, Steve Stricker, Matt Kuchar and Johnson Wagner.
"This is the highest score I could have shot out there today for sure," Woods said. "It could have been pretty low today".
According to Woods, he could have scored even better if he had controlled his shots in a more appropriate way.
Yet, he believes that he made many putts that should have turned in. However, they missed the corners, forcing him to make pars in the end.
"I don't know, I hit pure putts," Woods said. "I hit them right on my line, and they were just lipping out. I just have to be committed to what I'm doing and continue rolling it, because I'm hitting the putts on what I'm reading".
He made a total of 28 putts in the second round, which are not enough to score low in any round.
However, this was his second bogey-free round in the last three rounds he has played, along with the last round of the Honda Classic, which should have made him feel a bit comfortable.
The overnight leaders, Adam Scott and Jason Dufner, because of their front-nine double bogeys, failed to hold on to their leads and moved down the leaderboard at the 3rd and 10th place, respectively.
Meanwhile, Bubba Watson and Justin Rose surged to the top two positions with 10-under and 8-under par scores, respectively.
Watson remained just one stroke behind the course record and finished at the top of the leaderboard with a one-stroke lead over Rose.
