Tiger Woods shows strong signs of recovery – Golf update
Tiger Woods showed some more signs of recovery from his bad form, when he finished 8-under for 64 in the opening round of the Tavistock Cup at Isle Worth, Florida. He was playing with Arjun Atwal from Albany when he shot eight under when half way through
the game. Graeme McDowell and Retief Goosen shared the best score of 12-under for 60 for Lane Nona. They were followed by Justin Rose and Ian Poulter with 11-under for 61 for Albany.
Woods had earlier shown positive signs of improvement in his previously devastated form when he finished in the top ten at Doral on Sunday, his best performance for the year. The former champion has made several changes over the past year, in search of
the right connection which would launch him back to his previous high. He changed clubs quite often and was seen drifting away from his decade old tested techniques. He has been practicing with Coach Sean Foley for the last seven months in a bid to bring improvement
to his swing.
When approached for a word after the WGC Cadillac final round on Sunday, Woods appeared satisfied with a big smile across his face. On one occasion he reaffirmed his chances of winning the next months Masters and replied, “Oh yeah. It's definitely getting
better, no doubt," he said. "I'm putting the pieces together. Everything is kind of shaping up and heading the right direction, which is good. And peaking at the right time, right for the Tavistock Cup."
But he also suffered embarrassment on his poor tee shots too at Doral the day before when a combination of a 3-wood and a pop-up, all combined, didn’t go further than 300 yards. His former coach Butch Harmon had also lashed out at woods for his poor tee
shots. With seven birdies and just one bogey for the day, he managed to close the final round with a 6-under for 66, probably marking the end of his dry spell. Woods has entered himself into the Tavistock in a move to boast his confidence before the Masters
in Augusta next month and also because it is his home course.
