Tiger Woods struggles in the first two rounds of the Masters
The first two rounds of the Masters have completed, with Tiger Woods struggling to score well on the course, as he stands at the 40th leaderboard position.
The 36-year-old American professional golf player scored a 3-over 147, facing hurdles while scoring well at the Augusta National Golf Club in Augusta, Georgia.
“Didn’t quite have it today with my swing,’’ Woods said, “I played the par-3s 3 over, didn’t play the par-5s good, either. I need to cut that back, play a good, solid round, and cut the deficit down”.
He started the tournament on Thursday, scoring only three birdies and three unimpressive bogeys in the first round of the Masters.
The four-time Masters champion finished at par. He was not satisfied with his devastating performance. Then he teed off the second round on Friday morning and again failed to impress the spectators.
He scored two birdies on the 1st and the 3rd hole and then a series of bogeys started. He made five devastating bogeys on the 4th, 6th, 9th, 11th and on the 16th hole.
Before the tournament, all the previews were in favour of the 14-time major champion, Woods. However, he did not score well and faced difficulties in scoring on the fairways, greens and while putting.
Since January 2012, he has displayed amazing finishes at the PGA staged events. He recorded a runner-up position at the Honda Classic and impressively won the title of the Arnold Palmer Invitational presented by MasterCard.
However, after two rounds of the Masters, he needs to concentrate to cover the longest driving distance with accuracy as well.
“I understand how to grind it out, and the tournament is not over,” he said. “Last year I think on the final round I made up seven shots. I can do this”.
“I've just got to be patient. Obviously, I've got to cut that deficit down tomorrow with a good, solid round, then get off to a quick start on the front nine Sunday and see where that puts me”.
Woods felt sorrow, but said that he is confident to do his best in the upcoming two rounds of the Masters at Augusta.
He has ample chances to be the winner of the first major of the year. All he needs to do is save bogeys and concentrate to be at par.
