Tiger Woods stumbles at the end of first day at Akron
The WGC-Bridgestone Invitational is in full swing. The first day comes to an end and as expected it was a nail biting match among the elite golfers of the world. Firestone Country Club is the venue for this auspicious event. The four-day event teed off on
the 2nd of August and is going to end on the 5th of August.
The biggest names in the world of golf are going to go head to head for glory and are going to fight till the end. One of the players under the spot light for the tournament is Tiger Woods. Tiger Woods is currently on the number two spot in the world golf
ranking.
He has a chance to become the number one once again. If Woods bags this tournament and the current number one in the world golf ranking, Luke Donald finishes on third spot or lower, then Woods would be the number one again.
This is a golden opportunity for Woods, he has come very far. The 14-time major winner fell down as low as number 58 in the ranking. However, he has managed to climb up to number 2.
Unfortunately for the 36-year-old this tournament is not going as he had planned. He was looking for a strong start but failed to do so.
Woods had a slow start as he only managed to card a single birdie on the front nine. There were no bogeys, eagles or double bogeys on the front nine. These made his score one-under par after the first nine holes.
He had a better start to the back nine and things started to go his way. However, he had a bad end to the day. He started the back nine with two consecutive birdies on the tenth and eleventh hole.
In the last six holes, he carded three bogeys. There were no eagles or double bogeys on the back nine. These made his score one-over par on the last nine holes and his total score climbed up to par.
He ended the day tied on the thirty first position. He will need something extraordinary in the coming three days to reclaim the throne.
