Tiger Woods takes three weeks off before appearing in the Wells Fargo Championship – Golf News
Tiger Woods has announced to participate in the Wells Fargo Championship at Quail Hollow after a three-week break.
Woods remains optimistic about his form and is said to be aiming a win in the tournament that last saw him take the crown in 2007.
If he is able to bounce back in the event after a disappointing performance at the Masters Tournament last week, it will be a great achievement for him.
Woods is currently facing huge criticism over his inconsistency in the current season. For the last few months, he has been giving hints of his comeback to the game of golf.
However, every time he creates hype and then disappoints in the very next event he plays.
Woods announced his withdrawal in the final round of the World Golf Championships – Cadillac Championship due to Achilles tendon injury.
The very next event, Arnold Palmer Invitational, witnessed him registering a win to end his two-year title drought on the PGA Tour.
That was a time when everyone started expecting him to outperform his opponents in the Masters Tournament and record the 15th major title victory of his career.
However, he failed to satisfy his fans and followers on the course and finished tied for the 40th position at the Augusta National Golf Club.
Thereafter, he decided to take a few weeks off in order to take some rest without playing any type of golf.
"I'm going to take some time off and not look at the clubs for a while, and then get back after it," Woods said.
After a rest of a few days, he plans to get back in the field to work on his game along with his coach, Sean Foley.
“I know what to work on,” he said. “It's just a matter of getting out there and doing it. Just putting in the reps and the time. I just wasn't able to do it at the Masters”.
He also admitted that he was wrong in kicking his club after he teed off at the 16th hole.
"One thing I would like to say about the Masters last week is that obviously I got frustrated at times and know some of my actions were wrong, especially at No. 16," he said. "The Masters means a lot to me, and I was trying as hard as I could".
According to Woods, he does not want to look back and is focusing on the event scheduled to take place from May 3 to 6, 2012.
