Tiger Woods undergoing strange swing change ahead of the Memorial this week
Tiger Woods returned to his pre-tournament online interaction with his fans and critics, answering questions regarding his bid in the upcoming Memorial tournament on the PGA Tour.
One of his weird strategies which he undertook earlier in the year ahead of the Arnold Palmer Invitational, Woods answered several questions asked by his fans from all over the world.
Woods has now dropped to number nine from the high of number five on the Official World Golf Rankings (OWGR) earlier in the year, primarily due to his poor performance in consecutive events.
Woods said that he is currently undertaking a swing change which can successfully avoid injury and yet deliver better results.
He said, "I'm always trying to get a little bit better, but also, I'm trying to play around injuries I've had in the past. I'm trying to get a swing to ease that stress on the knee over the years, ... but also play at a high level at the same time”.
The former world number one fell for disastrous finishes in the Masters and the Players where he succumbed to a low of joint 40th, his lowest in both events in his career.
He added, “That's my passion. I love being out there and mixing up with the guys and trying to beat all of them. That's the fun. It's much more fun when you're winning and not finishing 40th (as he did at the Masters and The Players Championship)”.
Woods’ stance of avoiding direct interaction with the media ahead of the events on the PGA Tour has often been criticised by the press as a lame excuse of avoiding scathing questions.
Woods was answering questions to a wide range of fans from all over the world and was accompanied by the editors of his website NBC Sports golf analyst Roger Maltbie and Mark Soltau.
The 14-major-winner broke his winless streak earlier this year when he landed the coveted Arnold Palmer Invitational on the PGA Tour, bringing an end to his more than 30-month drought.
He will now be hoping to gain momentum ahead of the US Open and Memorial will be his latest bid for the moment.
