Tiger Woods wraps Bridgestone Invitational on a bad note
Tiger Woods once again failed to make a mark at the Firestone Country Club, where the final event of the World Golf Championships Bridgestone Invitational was held. The seven-major winner wrapped the tournament with a disappointing 1-over-par.
Woods teed off from the front and failed to pick a single birdie in his first nine holes, which ultimately became the reason of his decline on the leaderboard. The 35-year-old walked towards the back with his new caddie, discussing with him the possibilities
of keeping the scorecard free of bogeys. The discussion remained successful to some extent and Woods dropped a single shot against two birdies to sign for a score of 2-under-par.
Commenting on his game, the veteran said, “Yeah, today I didn't hit the ball well starting off, and I fixed it, put it together again, and really hit it good coming home, started hitting the ball the right flight, the right traj, every tee shot was flash,
everything was back to where it was at the beginning of the week.”
Woods has not been quite of a delight to watch during the four-day session of the tournament. He kicked off at par, followed it with a 72 and 71 and wrapped it with a 68. The rust in his swings was distinctive and clear due of lack of practice.
The veteran had been out of competitive golf since 12 weeks owing to the knee injury that he incurred during the third round of the Masters. In order to recover fully, the veteran stayed away from the course and went into a rehab.
This break had devastating effects on his position on the Official World Golf Rankings (OWGR), which dragged him to the 28th spot.  In addition to that, he lost the strength and speed in his swings, which showed its side effects on his scorecard.
The veteran attained an average of 39 percent in driving accuracy, which meant that he missed 37 fairways during the session.
Woods is back with a new caddie and he performed better than last year, but he still has a long journey back to the top. For now, it seems that the 14-major winner’s vows continue to haunt him.
