Tiger woods - agree or disagree?

In my opinion Tiger Woods hasn't just changed the whole face of golf but he has changed the whole face of sport. Since his amazing entrance into the world of golf, millions of people who couldn't care less are now fans. He broke into a predominantly white man sport, took it by the scruff of the neck and is now the best golfer to ever live. He changed the world of sport. Agree or disagree?

Absolutely right  watched him today in the US open as he reached 1st place on the leader board although he was in pain from his knee he keeps the rest of the filed focused and is great to watch.

Agree, the previous owner of Augusta said that as long as he lived whites would play golf and blacks would be the caddies. And now with Tiger it is clear we will never go back to that which is great.

I think Tiger has transformed the sport of golf. He put on a show on primetime television last night. He generates a lot of buzz in golf. I never watched golf until a few years ago. That was when I saw the way Tiger Woods played. He personifies excellence and hard-work. He has a bad knee and he is still leading the US Open by 1 stroke....

Agree. He has broken many barriers that have not been set before him and not to mention his sheer power on the down swing. He has made golf a more athletic sport and not just people smacking ball with a stick. And i bet you he still has a lot more play in him. Like last night in the U.S open he was down and came back with a CHIP IN AND A EAGLE with a bad knee (surgery) this man is truly one of the most impressive athletes in the world to date.

I agree 100%, and have said this exact thing in other answers about Tiger.  He has made the game what it is today.  After Jack and Arnold faded, the game needed someone, and Tiger was exactly right for the game.  Golf is so much more diverse, and is taking over in popularity of American sports, mainly because of Tiger.  He is a good role model for children as well.  His work ethic, and committment to the game are outstanding.

I really wish Tiger played just a few more (only asking for like 3) tournaments a year, especially the very small tournaments.  He could be a much better ambassador for the game if he showed off his golf game in more venues a year, and didnt stick to the large high prize money events.

Yeah he's done a lot for golf and broken barriers and his foundation and all the good stuff. I wonder though what's it going to be like when he retires. We saw glimpse of it during his layoff from knee surgery there was less coverage about golf I didn't even watch the Players championship. For casual fans like me Tiger Woods is golf. Hopefully there's another superstar in the making that will replace him in 10 or 12 years.

Even though he has broken the racial barrier I don't see more minorities playing the game. It's still a rich man's sport and unless it becomes more open to the normal middle class or less wealthy individual it won't be as successful as basketball or soccer sports where the price to play isn't as steep.

Agree. I never watched it before until Tiger Woods took the golf industry by storm and showed us that golf can be a thrill to watch.

I agree. My mother has never been on a golf course. She had no interest what so ever in golf before Tiger. Now she can tell you the stats of most of the players and she never misses watching Tiger play. I think there are thousands of people out there just like her thanks to Tiger. Myself included.
