this morning i woke up with my leg feeling tight, and slightly swollen...more swelling around my knee.

it doesn't hurt real bad to walk, unless im walking up the stairs then its very tight, and alittle painful

its only in my right leg..

i have elevated it and it seemed to help some for maybe an hour.

i dont have insurance so i just wondered if anyone has had this happen suddenly and happened to know some causes of it (im a 26 year old female and i have not injured it)

  1. Do you play sports? I used to play volleyball very competitively and that would happen to me.

It's extra fluid built up under your knee cap, You did that right thing by elevating it but you need to ice it too

30 minutes on 30 minutes off

If it doesn't work you Will need to go to a doctor to have it drained, If you don't it will continue to get worse until you can't walk on it any longer.

I was a Athletic trainer also for 2 years, so I hope I helped.

  2. You could try putting ice on it and keeping it elevated.  One possibility is that you have some sort of infection from shaving?  Check around your leg and see if you have any infected looking spots.

Hope it is feeling better soon.

If you used to have a dr. you could always call and explain the situation and see if they could give you some advice over the phone.

  3. that strangely happened to me too. i dont have an answer though sorry
