Question:

Tightening a loose ceiling fan?

I came home from work, and the cleaning ladies must have knocked the you know what out of my fan and now it wobbles a lot. The highest speed can't run without being an annoyance. All but two exposed screws, I've tightened. The two I haven't, theres not enough space for me to get a screwdriver to. It wobbles from the top base. Any ideas?

  1. You may have to take the cover off of it and see what is going on underneath.  Its not hard to do but make sure you turn power off to it first.  Once you get it off you will more than likely see the problem

  2. Yes,sounds out of balance.Check all blades are tight, then try small weights on blade opposite side of the sway, pennies work ok, start near center of blade and work out towards blade end.use some masking tape until you find where they need to go, then use something more permanent.

  3. It's out of balance.Remove the cover and have a peak at the ball that it rests on.
