Andrei Tikhonov has urged Spartak Moscow’s Valery Karpin to solve the defensive crisis within the team in order to climb up the Russian Premier League table
Spartak Moscow dropped all three points in the latest round of Russian Premier League action against Zenit St. Petersburg at Luzhniki stadium on Friday after conceding four goals in the contest.
The Moscow-based club re-signed Valery Karpin after sacking former manager, Unai Emery, following their humiliating 5-1 home defeat against bitter rivals, Dynamo Moscow, last Sunday.
There is little arguing to the statement that the Red-Whites are struggling defensively, having already conceded 30 goals in 18 league appearances. It has been a similar story on the European front as they conceded 12 goals in
UEFA Champions League so far this season.
Andrei Tikhonov has urged the Spartachi to improve defensively after blaming Juan Insaurralde and Nicolas Pareja for Friday’s away defeat against the defending league champions.
Tikhonov urged Karpin to look for a classy defender during the upcoming January transfer window, telling him that Zenit are stronger because http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Luciano-c22574 Spalletti assembled a decent squad over the years.
“In my opinion, the result of the match was decided by two key facts. First, Insaurralde failed to play according to the rhythm and secondly, Pareja looked confused. The Argentine International was later sent off during the match
after a big mistake.”
“I think Spartak need a good central defender urgently. Unfortunately, neither Pareja nor Insaurralde match the level of the Moscow-based club. I think that Spartak should first consider buying a central defender than they can
think about anything.”
“The team tried but failed to take full advantage of the scoring chances.” The former Lokomotiv Astana player was quoted as saying.

return to former club, RCD Espanyol.
If speculations are to be believed, Spartak are reportedly keeping tabs on out-of-favour Terek Grozny’s defensive powerhouse, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Dmitri-Yatchenko-c11425.
