I have 30 yr old tile grout in bath which is stained with age etc. Is there an easy way to clean it or sand it without having to chip it all out? Perhaps a drill or something?

  1. Try Lysol toilet bowl cleaner, the type with the blue label.  Apply with a scrub brush.  I've seen very stained grout come out very white using this.

  2.   You can stain the grout many a color w/ grout stain.. Time consuming but worth it .. I did mine  10 years ago and still looks good.. You might have to go darker than the original  or possible 2 coats  GL

  3. Let me know when you find out.

  4. If you're unable to adequately clean the grout, the best way to remove it is by using a dremel.  They sell tips (not too expensive) that can be used with the dremel.  But the best part is there is an attachment that allows you to place the dremel at the propper angle, etc, so that removing the grout is very easy.  I used one on my kitchen and it went very quickly.  You can cover an line of grout about 8 feet long in about  2 or 3 minutes.  So it doesn't take too long to do an entire area.

    good luck

  5. you can use tile cleaner they have it at home depot or just call a tile store and ask them what you can clean it with.

  6. We were able to have some success with steam and some OxyClean on some kitchen floor tile grout that was stained with dirt and grease.

You might also try the "Rust Remover" in the brown bottle, but be very careful with that stuff - it contains hydroflouric acid that can be deadly.
