hi. i've just tiled a floor, 22' x 15', everything went well but i have a question,to pro tilers if possible please. after grouting how do you clean up the tiles? it took me 3hours with a sponge! when i was grouting i would do an area 1 metre square and clean the excess with a sponge and move on. left it till the grout in between the tiles was semi dry then went over the whole area again with a sponge and clean bucket of water . there must be an easier way of cleaning up the tiles?! a mate of mine told me he saw a guy using sand! no sponge, just poured sand over the area and brushed it up. was clean as a whislte after.

  1. the guy with the sand is nuts,

what kind of tile is it ?

    slate , marble , porcelain

slate is a ***** to clean , do a bit at a time maybe

    4 tiles at a time

the rest should be easy,do the grout afyer 15 min clean it up

wiyh a sponge the next day pass a mop with cold water

and a bit of white vinegar

  2. Johnbridge is a great resource. After you clean the tiles with plain water, let them dry. The haze that remains can just be polished off with a dry cloth. That's it!

  4. sand will absorb pretty much anything...I've never had a problem scrubbing it off though.  Maybe use a heavy duty cleaner on it before you sponge it
