Captain of the Sri Lankan cricket team, Tillakaratne Dilshan, has claimed that the outcome of the Dubai Test against Pakistan would have been totally different if his team had batted better on the opening day of the match.
The Green Shirts won the second Test of the three match series by nine wickets and took an unassailable lead of 1-0. Pakistan came close of winning the previous match at Abu Dhabi as well but could not cross the line as the resilient;

The Islanders were bowled out for 239 runs on the first day of the Dubai Test and from that point onwards, the Sri Lankan team was behind the eight ball.
If the Sri Lankan bowlers had not contributed with the bat in the first innings, situation would have been a lot worse for the visitors.
Ironically, it was Dilshan who won the toss and elected to bat first and after the match he revealed that his objective was to score a big first innings score but the likes of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mohammad-Junaid-Khan-c77037 broke their back in the first session
of the match. He feels that the Sri Lankan bowling lineup is still very inexperienced and the batsmen must their raise their game in order to give the bowlers something to play with.
Dilshan said, "After winning the toss, we were looking to score around 350-400 runs and it would have been a different game if we did it. The middle order should have put on more runs on the board for the bowlers to bowl. Fortunately only
our tail-enders put some runs.”
The Sri Lankan captain is not happy with his team’s performance in the second innings either and expressed that his team could have put http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 under pressure by not losing a lot of wickets before waving off the deficit.
“In the second innings too we did not bat well. As a batting group, we have to improve and come back strongly in the next match. If we went past their score in the second innings without losing too many wickets, they would also have been
under pressure,” the Sri Lankan skipper added.
