The 36-year-old cricketer, having performed well at the national level, made his way to the global stage in 1999 and was appointed as the captain of the Sri Lankan team after the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ICC-World-Cup-2011-c100625 Cricket World Cup 2011, only to resign earlier this
year.
Dilshan has been a prolific run-getter for the Islanders over the years, having scored more than 13 thousand runs at the ultimate stage of the game, with the help of 30 centuries.
In the first fixture of the on-going Test series against Australia at Hobart, the opening batsman slammed a wonderful 147 off merely 273 balls, in which the stylish right-hander struck 21 boundaries.
However, the former Lankan skipper wants to focus on the shorter formats of the game, which are more suited to Dilshan’s style of play.
“I spoke to my managers and my family about how far I want to play Test cricket and one-dayers," said Dilshan. "I'm definitely going to play in the 2015 World Cup, that's my target but I'm not sure how long I'm going to play Test cricket.”
The cricketer from Kalutara has revealed that he will discuss his future with the concerned people after the tour of Australia and will decide whether he wants to continue taking part in the longer version of the sport or not.
“After this series, I'll sit down with my wife and family and discuss when I'm going to finish Test cricket - (the Test in Sydney) might be my last outside of Sri Lanka,” the former captain added.
