Tillakaratne Dilshan extends his stay in IPL-4 for Bangalore's next game
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758’s newly appointed captain, Tillakaratne Dilshan, who was earlier reported to have left the Indian Premier League (IPL) on Tuesday, will continue to play for Royal Challengers Bangalore for their match on Wednesday, May 11, 2011.
It was reported that Dilshan was very passionate about taking up his responsibilities as a captain against England and wanted to be there before the first competition of the tour, scheduled to be played on May 14.
Later, the RCB’s skipper Daniel Vettori revealed that the opener will play against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Rajasthan-c837 Royals on May 11.
"I thought he is leaving before this match (for the Sri Lanka's tour of England later this month) but he would be available for tomorrow's match so any question of replacing him does not arise," Vettori said.
Last month Cricket Sri Lanka and Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) reached consensus on the point that seven Sri Lankan players from the 16-member squad will leave for England before the second warm-up, match against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c749 Lions.
Earlier, there was a tussle between the two boards over the issue. SLC, asked their players to leave IPL on May 5 in order to prepare for the England tour, but soon the issue was resolved through discussions between the two boards.
Dilshan, who took over the captaincy after Kumar Sangakkara, has played nine matches for Bangalore in the ongoing season. He scored 188 runs at an average of 26.85 including two fifties.
Sangakkara has brilliantly led his side to the final of the International Cricket Council (ICC) World Cup 2011, where they were thrashed by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 at the Wankhede Stadium.
Following the conclusion of the mega event, the wicket-keeper batsman, stepped down from the post. The veteran is currently leading Deccan Chargers as their skipper.
Dilshan contributed a useful, unbeaten, 59-run knock against the mighty http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mumbai-c820 Indians during his side’s second match.
The all-rounder also played a significant role in Bangalore’s win against the debutant Kochi Tuskers http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Kerala-c803. He scored an unbeaten 52 runs including eight fours and one six.
Dilshan is part of the IPL since its inaugural season. He had been playing for the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Delhi-c780 Daredevils earlier. For the ongoing season, he was bought by RCB for $650,000.
Sri Lanka will start their tour with the first Test against England at Sophia Gardens, Cardiff, while the first One-Day will be played on June 28 at Kennington Oval, London.
