Sri Lankan captain, Tillakaratne Dilshan, is hopeful about the future of his team even after a series defeat against England in Test matches as well as the five-match One Day International (ODI) series last week.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Close-c51347 fight to clinch the series 3-2.
Although, the home team won the Test series by 1-0 but the Islanders did well in the series apart from the last session of the Cardiff Test, where their batting line-up fell like a house of cards. It turned out to be a costly performance for the visitors
as the Cardiff Test decided the fate of the series.
Dilshan is disappointed that his team lost both the series by a narrow margin and feels that the result could have been completely different with a little more effort. However, he is still http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Arthur-Percival-Day-c45927 with the performance of some of the younger players in the
team.
Sri Lankan captain said, "In the last two months we've played some good cricket. We lost the Test series in one hour and again in this one-day series lost three matches in about the first six overs of our batting. I think we can be a http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Gordon-James-Muchall-c60376 better side than
that."
This was the first tour for Dilshan as the Sri Lankan captain as he replaced http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ICC-World-Cup-2011-c100625 Cricket World Cup 2011.
Dilshan had a pathetic series with the bat as he managed only 17 runs in five matches, which is not at all acceptable from a batsman of his ability. He admits his failure and vows to make amends in future.
“As a captain I didn't get any runs and I'm really disappointed with that. The top order was always getting runs but now we have more confidence in the middle order and that is good for the future. We can look forward to the upcoming series with the youngsters,"
he added.
