Tillakaratne Dilshan says RCB wants to finish on top – Cricket News Update
Royal Challengers Bangalor’s Sri Lankan import Tillakaratne Dilshan on Monday said that his side is eager to finish on top in the ongoing season six of the lucrative Indian Premier League.
With five wins from seven games, the Bangalore based IPL franchise has had a dream season so far. The Virat Kohli led RCB side is comfortably positioned second on the IPL points table, just behind Chennai Super Kings, who also have five wins from seven games. While speaking to media reporters ahead of their eighth fixture this season, the Sri Lankan said that they are keen to finish on top and vowed not to squander away the advantage they have held over the other teams.
Talismanic West Indies opener Chris Gayle has been in good form at the top, while run machine Virat Kohli holds the orange cap for being the leading run scorer of the tournament thus far. South African wicketkeeper batsman AB de Villiers has also nicely played his part with the part. Their bowling attack, featuring Vinay Kumar and RP Singh, has also done pretty well in the tournament.
Kohli and men have made a fortress out of the Chinnaswamy Stadium and they would love to leave home on a high by scripting a comprehensive win against Pune Warriors on Tuesday. Moreover, a victory against the Warriors would also help the Bangalore side edge over Super Kings to the top spot.
"Our aim is to win on Tuesday and finish at the top of the table before leaving," Dilshan said as the Kohli led RCB side geared up to take on Pune Warriors at home on Tuesday. "We have to play away from home for the next 15 days (sic) and we need to adjust to their conditions as soon as possible," added the former Sri Lankan skipper.
The experienced Sri Lanka top order batsman has been surprisingly one of the weaker links in a start-studded Bangalore line-up, having scored 0, 5 and 25 runs in the three innings he has played so far this year. Asked about his personal form, Dilshan hoped to rediscover some touch in the coming matches.
"I came here with a lot of confidence, having scored a lot of runs in the Bangladesh ODIs. But unfortunately, I could not score runs in the first two matches here. I'm disappointed after I got out for 25 against Rajasthan; I'm looking forward to getting a big score in the coming matches," he said.
