Tilly Gray seizes Women’s 200m butterfly gold – 2013 British International
Tilly Gray of Loughborough University seized gold medal of the Women’s 200m butterfly on day one of the 2013 British International in Leeds, UK on Saturday, March 9.
Gray showed no mercy to her opponents in the distant butterfly discipline and surfaced on the finishing end for a gold medal. She remained in a marginal lead over her opponent and transpired on the finishing wall for a gold medal.
The 22-year-old Gray enjoyed a lead of two arm strokes over her closest competitor and surfaced on the finishing end for gold medal by posting a time of 2 minutes and 10.78 seconds.
The champion was followed by Elena Sheridan of Romford Town, who stayed 0.23 seconds away from her preceding swimmer and transpired on the finishing end for silver medal by clocking a time of 2 minutes and 11.01 seconds.
The second position holder was followed by Alys Thomas of Swansea Uni, who was 0.62 seconds away from her former finisher and emerged on the finishing end for a bronze medal by reporting an effort of 2 minutes and 11.63 seconds.
Fourth fastest spot of the event was obtained by Hannah Miley of Garioch, who was only 0.03 seconds slower and tapped the wall with an effort of 2 minutes and 11.66 seconds.
Fifth position of the race was secured by Georgia Barton of Co Manch Aquatics, who was 0.05 seconds slower from her preceding swimmer and touched the wall with an effort of 2 minutes and 11.71 seconds.
Barton was trailed by Libby Mitchell of Swansea Uni, who was nearly three seconds behind and concluded her race in a time of 2 minutes and 14.26 seconds for sixth position.
Seventh position of the race was obtained by Katherine Ambridge of Windsor, who was only 0.30 seconds apart and tapped the wall with a time of 2 minutes and 14.56 seconds.
Last position of the event was obtained by Fiona Donnelly of Nova Cent’n, who stayed one and a half body length behind and clocked a time of 2 minutes and 15.94 seconds.
In addition, Gray received a huge round of applause from the audience at the prize ceremony of the event.
