Tim Boetsch stuns the world by knocking out Yushin Okami in third round at UFC 144 – UFC news
Japanese mixed martial art fanatics witnessed Ultimate fighting Championship’s best ever comeback when Tim Boetsch, defied all odds by totally knocking the senses out of his UFC 144 opponent Yushin Okami, in the third round.
The octagon was stretched at Saitama Super Arena situated in Saitama, Japan and the pay-per-view was headlined by the clash between Frankie Edgar and Ben Henderson for UFC’s lightweight gold.
Tim, widely known as the ‘Barbarian’, had been in a total 18 brawls and came out victorious in 14. The 31-year-old is well known for his powerful jabbing that helps him collect knockout wins hence a kayo specialist.
Yushin, Nicknamed as ‘The Thunder’, is categorised as the top middleweight brawlers in UFC. Okami has been in a total 32 brawls and came out victorious in 26. He has collected nine of his wins by KO, four by submission, and 12 by decision.
Okami is also the former number one middleweight contender who was unsuccessful against Anderson Silva in his last bout. The Japanese thunder was considered by all and sundry as the favourite in the bout but the results astonished the UFC fans all around
the world.
From the very start, Tim acted as Yushin’s punching bag so much so that everyone in the arena unanimously declared Tim as the loser. However, surprisingly the third round witnessed a climax and Tim started the things with a huge punch. The punch was followed
by a series of more well-placed, powerful fists which eventually annihilated Yushin.
Boetsch, while commenting about his huge comeback said, “I knew nothing less than a knockout or finish would win that fight for me. My heart was in it, and I knew I could win.”
After the bout, even UFC President Dana White exclaimed and said that this is what one should do. A man, who is beaten up to the extent that blood is oozing out of his face and nose, should stand up and throw everything what he has since he has nothing to
lose.
Dana commented, “I wish more guys would do that. When you're down like that, what do you have to lose? You have nothing to lose and everything to gain to go out there and go after it and try and win, try to finish. That's exactly what he did, and that's
what everybody should do when their down two rounds in a three-round fight. It was awesome.”
Tim now has 15 wins, seven of them by knockout, in his total 19 brawls and Okami has collected his second consecutive defeat. The special extended edition was televised on February 25, 2012.
