The former Germany international has gave in to his injury blighted career and as a result, is forced to hang up his boots just at the age of 32.

The central midfielder has 33 caps for his country and two goals to his name.
The midfield maestro suffered the long lay-off in October 2010 but was unable to get back on the field even from the surgery on the ankle. The outstanding player bade farewell to his boyhood club as he played his last game for
Bremen in the final game of the last campaign. That game was his first and only match of the 2011-12 season.
The 32-year-old also failed to land a new deal from the River Islanders due to his injury-prone career and his age. The former Die Roten star stated that he has enjoyed the sport throughout his career with so many unforgettable
and beautiful moments. He said that he will cherish the wonderful memories and remember them from time to time.
"I had a wonderful time as a footballer with many great, emotional moments," he mused.
"I'll always keep that with me," he was quoted as saying in an interview.
The attacker was part of the Bremen youth academy and rose through the ranks to make it to the first team. His consistent performances earned him a move with the Bavarian giants as he joined on a free transfer, but could not garner
a starting berth and had to go back to his former club the next season.
