Tim Bresnan, the England all-rounder, has backed Jonny Bairstow to come good on his return to Test cricket in the third match of the series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757, at the Lord’s, and thinks that the right-hander is an extremely talented youngster.
The 22-year-old cricketer has been drafted in the side in place of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/KP-Pietersen-c1806, who was controversially dropped from the team for the last Test, despite scoring a brilliant ton in the previous fixture at Headingley.
Bairstow made his Test debut earlier in the season against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Yorkshire-c867 batsman was initially not selected to play
the series against the Proteas, making way for http://www.senore.com/Cricket/RS-Bopara-c2373.
However, he struck a superb hundred against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Lions-c808 last week, catching the eyes of selectors.
Bresnan, who has been an integral part of the English side since the last couple of years, is confident that Bairstow will not be too fazed about the on-going controversy related to Pietersen and will take the Lord’s Test as an opportunity to showcase his
skills.
"I don't think he'll care who's been dropped or who he's replaced," Bresnan said. "It's a chance for him to impress everyone, a chance for him to play in a Test match and a chance for him to show exactly what he can do and show how talented he is."
The 27-year-old fast bowler believes Bairstow has a great future ahead of him, as he is extremely talented and possesses the ability to deliver the goods in all three formats of the game. Bresnan also praised the right-handed batsman’s knock against the
Kangaroos at Manchester.
"He is unbelievably talented and I think he can get runs at this level if he gets a start. All he needs to do is feel a bit of confidence out there and he got that last week against Aussie A. He played really well against a really good attack," the fast
bowler added.
