England's bowling all-rounder, Tim Bresnan, underwent an elbow surgery on Wednesday and might miss out on next year’s neutral venue series against Pakistan.
The 26-year-old http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 in September. After an initial examination, the fast bowler was sent for an operation to remove a bone fragment from his elbow.
The http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013 and Wales Cricket Board on Thursday confirmed the elbow surgery of Bresnan. The ECB, in a statement, revealed,
"The Yorkshire and England pace bowler Tim Bresnan underwent an operation yesterday (Wednesday) to remove a bone fragment from the back of his elbow."
"His symptoms started during the England one-day squad's recent tour of India and have failed to settle with rest," the statement added further.
The England and Wales Cricket board is expecting the Yorkshire pacer to be fit ahead of the first Test of Pakistan’s home series, scheduled to be hosted by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/United-Arab-Emirates-c3033 early next year. However it is premature to say anything about the recovery time
of Bresnan’s operated elbow.
The ECB selectors are expected to pick up the squad for the three-Test series against Pakistan next week. Sources inside ECB have told that Bresnan will also be named in the preliminary squad and given time to prove his fitness ahead of the series commencing
in Dubai on January 17, 2012.
"The ECB medical staff will oversee his rehabilitation programme in conjunction with Yorkshire and he is expected to make a full recovery in time for England's Test Series against Pakistan in the UAE which starts in January."
Bresnan’s ability to reverse-swing the ball will be crucial for England during next year’s tour of United Arab Emirates (UAE). England is expected to select a five-prong pace attack for the tour and an unfit Bresnan could be a huge blow for Strauss and his
men who are currently ranked as the number one Test side.
Besides the three-match Test series, England will play four One Day Internationals and three T20 Internationals as well during the six-week-long outing.
