Tim Bresnan happy to have Kevin Pietersen back – Cricket News Update
Tim Bresnan, the England fast bowler, is delighted to have Kevin Pietersen back in the squad and expressed that the right-handed batsman has adjusted in the team atmosphere quite nicely.
The 32-year-old middle-order batsman was controversially axed from the England side for the third Test of the all-important series against South Africa earlier this year, following his text-messages to some of the opposition players, Dale Steyn and AB de Villiers, making fun of his teammates.
The hard-hitting batsman later apologized through a video message but he was not included in the England line-up for the ICC World T20 2012, where the Poms failed to defend their title.
The right-hander however, has returned to the national team for the on-going tour of India, where Alastair Cook and company will play four Test matches against the Men in Blue.
Bresnan expressed that Pietersen’s return has not made any difference to the dressing room atmosphere and believes that it is just routine work for the players
"There's not been much made of it. Everyone in the know of what's being going on, they've sat down and spoke about things and I guess a few of the senior players have spoken, but for the rest of the boys it's pretty much been like having someone who's been injured come back in the side, it's not been exceptionally different,” said Bresnan.
The fast bowler impressed on day one of the tour match against India ‘A’ at Mumbai, picking up three vital scalps, having conceded 59 runs. Bresnan was also impressed by the energy Pietersen showed on the field.
"It's been the same old Kev. The energy in the field he showed today, all day, it was just Kev to be honest. It's been good," he added.
Over the years, Pietersen has been a great servant of England cricket, scoring more than 12 thousand runs at the game’s highest stage in 88 Tests, 127 One Day Internationals and 36 T20s, with the help of 30 tons. The stylish batsman’s return is surely going to bolster the visitors’ middle-order, which is bound to be tested in India against a quality spin bowling attack.
