Tim Bresnan set to miss Sri Lankan series due to recurrence of calf injury

Bresnan suffered the recurrence of the injury during another Championship game against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Hampshire-c789 last week where Bresnan impressed with a fine bowling performance of 3/18.
The English Cricket Board (ECB) confirmed that his injury was a serious one and needed time to mend which mean his participation at the start of the Sri Lankan series is unlikely.
"A rehabilitation and recovery programme will be established in the coming days following further medical assessment," said an ECB statement.
Bresnan though, is expected to regain fitness in time for the tough series against the top ranked Test team http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750. The Indians are set to provide a stiffer challenge for their hosts on the back of some strong performances in the longest
format of the game, Bresnan would be hoping that he takes part in the series.
The Hampshire match was his first Championship outing of the season; he had a big impact in the winter where he played a key role in the Ashes triumph, especially in the last two tests at Melbourne and Sydney which were won by the
POMS by an innings margin as they overwhelmed the hosts 3-1.
After he with drew from the ODI series in Australia, Bresnan made an impression in the World Cup also where he was the leading English bowler in difficult conditions.
His spell against India helped the English team restrict the hosts to 338 runs, when it looked set to cross the 350 run mark. Later he played a cameo with the bat to help his team tie the nerve wrecking contest on the back of a masterful
knock by captain Andrew Strauss.
His injury would be a big blow to England as they face the prospect of playing two tricky teams, that have the ammunition to upset them this summer. The http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Yorkshire-c867 man would be aiming to rehabilitate quickly and make his presence felt
in his own conditions as soon as his calf mends.
