Tim “Brezy” Bresnan, the English medium-pacer, is content with the current composition in the Poms’ seam bowling brigade. However, the pacer, who plays for http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Yorkshire-c867, wants one chance to show off his skills and to prove to all and sundry that he belongs
at the top level.
Bresnan, right-hand bowler, is not assured of a place in the Poms’ final XI. He will be at loggerheads with http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 on Thursday, July 21, 2011, at Lord’s.
Brezy fells that the competition in fast bowling has an amicable effect on English cricket as they have a pool of players to choose from; even if someone gets injured a replacement is ready to pounce on the opportunity.
The 26-year-old pacer said, “It's a great position for English cricket to be in, having two guys who can do the job. Not just two, but a very strong crop of seamers where, if there are injuries, people can come in. I just need that one chance to show everyone
what I've got again and, hopefully, cement down a place.”
The Yorkshireman doesn’t mind losing his place to Broad, who is England’s Twenty20 captain. Bresnan concludes that it doesn’t matter who gets to play as both have a lot to offer to the team.
Brezy states that final decision on who plays or not, rests with team’s skipper, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Andrew-Flower-c44362. The bowler expresses that all he can do, is to give it his best shot if a chance comes his way.
“We both offer good things to England, to the team as a whole and (my selection) depends on the conditions and what Andy (Flower) and (Andrew) Strauss decide. The only thing I could do is to bowl well and push for place. If it comes my way, brilliant,” concluded
Bresnan.
Considering recent performances, Broad may find the bench as he has been struggling with ball. The lanky bowler was taken apart by Sri Lankans, who toured England in June.
In three Test matches against the Lankans, Broad took eight wickets at 48.75 apiece. While, in four ODI’s, he captured just two wickets at an average of 95.50. Bresnan, in comparison dismissed eight batsmen at an average of 29.
