Tim Clark attends the practice session at Players Championship despite the injury
Tim Clark, the Players Championship’s defending champion, will be returning to the Tournament Player Club, Sawgrass, to defend his title despite his right elbow being injured.
The South African attended the practice session on Wednesday and spoke about his intentions regarding the tournament with sheer excitement.
He said that despite the injury and the pain, he was looking forward to play in the event since he loved the course on which it was being played.
He quoted, “At this point with the injuries I’ve had this year, I’m just really excited to be here. I feel like I’m going to be able to play, which two weeks ago I wasn’t sure if that would be the case”.
Clark has been fighting tendinitis in his right elbow since a year. The fitness problem compelled the player to miss the cut in one of the three events he competed in.
Last month, he attended the Masters, but could not make the cut and slid out of the first major of the season.
However, this time, Clark is not in a mood to commit mistakes. Therefore, he has been taking therapies that include soft tissue treatment, acupuncture and rest, to eradicate the problem.
The player has not been to a golf course ever since he missed the cut at the Augusta National.
However, since every cloud has a silver lining, the positive outcome of this injury has been that Clark is spending more time with his wife, Candace, and their newly born daughter.
Owing to the treatment and some quality time at home, the South African feels fit enough to defend his title at the Players Championship.
While speaking to the press, Clark said, “For a long time it just seemed like it was never going to end. So the improvement I’ve felt over the last few weeks has given me some encouragement and I’m feeling a bit more upbeat about it. I do feel like I’m
going to be able to play, though, and get through it”.
Clark has missed the cut in four of the seven events he attended, but this time, a newly born child has motivated the player to give his best.
