Tim Clark eyeing the Players Championship despite having a hurting elbow
Tim Clark is ready to defend his title at the Tournament Player Club (TPC) Sawgrass, which will take place at the Tournament Player Club Saw grass from May 12 to 15, 2011.
The South African injured his elbow sometime back and had been undergoing several surgeries on it, but to no avail. He bid goodbye to competitive golf for three months, but made a comeback in the 2011 Masters
and once again, could not relish success. He missed the cut after carding a 73 after the opening two rounds.
However, with the Players Championship approaching, the defending champion is not in the mood to give up on the title.
Clark said while speaking at a press conference, “I have had lots of treatment done, everything I can do to get better. It has been a slow process. I am hoping I am able to tee it up at The Players Championship
right now. I am still pretty unsure how it's going to be by then. Play or not, I will be at Saw grass for the week. I just hope I'll be able to play.”
The South African mentioned his urge to play in the tournament despite the pain he had been experiencing. The player conceded his chances to win were less, but he did not want to give up on the fifth flagship
event on the tour. He also talked about his experience in the Masters. He revealed that he was struggling with his elbow, as it was not moving, but despite the hindrance, he kept on playing until he lost the cut.
With a few days left for the tournament to start, Clark has ample time to prepare for the tournament. He said that he would step into the tournament with the same mindset as the rest of the field. He added
that he would continue playing in the four-day session and won’t withdraw from the event, no matter how bad the situation becomes.
Clark is packed with loads of motivation, which shows the amount of love he has for golf. But apart from that, there is another news compelling him to give his best in the tournament; Clark has recently
become father to a baby boy.
