Tim Coleman: I underestimated Vernon Paris but will not do the same against Kendall Holt - Boxing News
Tim Coleman, the former USBA light welterweight champion, is ready to take on Kendall Holt and recently, in an interview, said that he did not prepare well in the bout against Vernon Paris and his defeat was definite adding that this time he will not make
any mistakes since he is undergoing rigorous training schedule.
Tim and Kendall are scheduled to exchange their fists in a non-title bout which will take place on March 16, 2012. The show will be televised on ESPN2’s Friday night show ‘Fight Nights’ and the ring for the brawl will be stretched at Morongo Casino Resort
& Spa situated in Cabazon, California, United States.
The 10-round skirmish will headline the event which is promoted by Gary Show Productions. Tim, 27, has been in a total 22 bouts and came out victorious in 19. He has collected just five of his wins by knockout.
Coleman, infamous as the ‘Pit Bull’, relies heavily on his resilience and does not try to collect a knockout win swiftly instead he wears his opponent out and wins via unanimous decision.
His Friday night opponent, Kendall, exhibits a pretty intimidating resume. Infamous as ‘Rated R’, Holt has been in a total 32 bouts and emerged as a victor in 27. He has collected 15 of his wins by knockout.
Holt overshadows Tim in various facets such as experience, knockout proficiency and others. This might be a matter of concern for the young Pit Bull who desperately needs to come on track after his loss to Vernon. Interestingly, Holt, former WBO light welterweight
champion, is also coming from a loss.
Kendall lost his last bout to Danny Garcia via split decision. Tim while recalling the tough Vernon-bout memories said, “I really didn’t train for Paris. I was working a full-time job and I didn’t have a lot of time. I thought he was just a young guy who
didn’t have the experience I had. Paris was the better man that night.”
Coleman further added that he has now fully concentrated on training well since Kendall is not an easy opponent who can be manhandled. Tim commented, “He’s got a tremendous left hook but he is flatfooted. I’m a way better boxer. No way do I think he is faster
than me.”
The Friday night edition will also have Abraham Lopez and Gabriel Tolmajyan brawl in the featherweight division constituting an eight-round non-title co-main event bout.
