Tim Henman believes 2013 could be the year of Andy Murray  – Tennis News
Former British number one, Tim Henman, believes that his country’s highest ranked tennis player these days, Andy Murray, can rule the tennis world in 2013.
Henman thinks that Murray is still improving his game and his rivals’ level would be going down in the near future. The veteran said that Roger Federer is already 31-year-old, so he won’t be able to sustain his top level for that
long. At the same time, there are doubts about the fitness level of Rafael Nadal.
Talking to reporters recently, Henman stated, “It is very well poised going into 2013. I really like where Andy’s game is at because I still think he is getting better. Roger Federer can’t play forever and at 31 it doesn’t get
any easier for him. There is still a question mark over Rafa’s knee and whether or not he can come back from that injury to the same level.”
2012 was the best season of Murray’s career so far, as he achieved what he had failed to in the last many years. He broke his Grand Slam duck by capturing this year’s US Open title. Just a month prior to that, he thrashed Roger
Federer to grab the gold medal at the London Olympics. All that came after losing in four straight Grand Slams finals at the hands of two of his biggest rivals, Federer and Djokovic.
Though, Henman says that he always believed in Murray and now he hopes that the British number one would do an even better job next year. The veteran would want Murray to win the Wimbledon title for his nation, which he could not
do this year.
The four-time Wimbledon semi-finalist added, “I have always said I thought Andy can win many grand slams and believed that the first would be his hardest. Now he has won that, I expect bigger and better things from him in 2013.”
Henman went on to say that Murray proved that he can topple Djokovic by defeating him in the title match of the US Open. The Brit believes that his compatriot’s recent performance proved that he should aim to reach the highest
level.
