Tim Hudson hopeful of contract extension from Atlanta Braves following 2013 season - MLB Update
Starting pitcher Tim Hudson has expressed his desire to stay in Atlanta Braves until conclusion of his career. He is hopeful that he earns a contract extension at the end of the 2013 season.
The Braves have an option on him for the next season, which they are most probably going to use but it remains to be seen whether they are willing to hand him renewal of the contract for couple of years or not.
Hudson was injured at the beginning of the recently concluded season before he returned and started putting up consistent performances.
Tim carried out his job effectively in the absence of some pitchers who suffered injuries and stayed out from the season.
By the time Brandon Beachy met with an injury and announced as out from the rest of the season, the Braves were left with a fewer number of hurlers on rotation that could ensure wins on regular basis.
Beachy was going perfectly as he was throwing complete games for the team. At one stage of the season, he appeared to be so effective that he encouraged the Braves to fancy splendours in the playoffs from their hurlers. Unfortunately, he did not last long
in the season.
Hudson rescued the Braves from crumbling, following the flurry of injuries to their pitchers. He did not let their ship waiver. He kept them afloat with outstanding shows on the mound.
Based on his performance in the current season, he can expect that he will be granted contract extension.
“I felt better this year than I have in a while, except for the ankle,” he said. “My arm felt great all year, my back never gave me any problems, so that was definitely encouraging. I feel good that I can pitch for a while longer.”
He has added that playing for the Braves has been pleasure and continuing with them will be amazing for him.
“I’d love to stay here,” said Hudson. “Obviously for next year, but I’d love to stay here as long as they’ll have me. I understand a business is a business.”
Hudson will be looking to start next year for the Braves and be effective so that they offer him contract extension.
