Tim Hudson out-shines Tim Lincecum as Atlanta Braves defeat San Francisco Giants 5-2 – MLB Update
The San Francisco Giants struggled to play the elusive fast-balls of Atlanta Braves’ Tim Hudson on Saturday night as the Braves beat the Giants 5-0.
The win boosted the confidence of pitcher himself and may possibly help the team to pursue the upcoming matches with some advantage. Tim Hudson, however, was displeased and dissatisfied with the last two innings in which he gave up two hits and a run.
Hudson minced no words to express his displeasure on a day that was meant to be celebrated owing to his considerably good performance. Nonetheless, he vowed to keep giving his best.
“It's pretty disappointing. Obviously to go out and get two outs in the ninth, you want to finish it," Hudson said. "My pitch count got up there and I was laboring a little bit. But I'm not a guy who takes a lot of pride in complete games."
Tim Lincecum who came pitching for the Giants was beyond any shadow of doubt, outrivaled by Hudson. While Hudson was ardently trying to not give even a small opportunity for the Giants to bank upon, Lincecum’s efforts did not completely go futile and hardly
proved fruitful.
"You can't accept pretty good results when you walk six guys," Lincecum said. "It's almost like a guy's on every inning. Obviously you're not helping yourself or your team with a back-against-the-wall kind of situation. Today was one of those situations
where I did it to myself."
Lincecum could not set things right from the start when Martin Prado and Jayson Heyward got back-to-back walks. When he gave up the first one-out single to Nate McLouth, the pitching coach did not think twice to get to him and instruct how to go ahead. However,
that would not help him considering the luck on the side of the Atlanta Braves.
It was the Giants that opened their account first, as Cody Ross singled to centre to make it a 1-0 lead for the Giants in the third inning. The score was levelled in the very next inning when Martin Prado singled to left, allowing McLouth score. The Braves
doubled to lead in the fifth inning in Martin Prado’s second single to centre, where McLouth scored again.
The Braves almost nailed the game in the seventh inning when Lincecum, who was already suffering, gave up two innings. First it was Prado who grounded which allowed Alex Gonzalez to score. Brian McCann was next, as he singled to centre where McLouth and
Jason Heyward scored making it 5-1 for the Braves.
Hudson who was impressive as he only got two hits in the last inning by the Giants. The pitcher did not let it be the possible turnover of the game. Only Miguel Tejada hit a sacrifice fly to centre where Pat Burrell scored. Hudson then came down hard and
reduced the Giants to the same score, paving the way for a 5-2 victory for the Braves at San Francisco.
