Tim Hudson represents might and ambition in baseball
If there’s one thing Tim Hudson will be remembered for last season, it will surely be his courage.
The ace pitcher had to undergo Tommy John surgery before the 2010 Major League Baseball season. Given most of the early season off, Hudson was forced back into action before the end of the regular league season.
Though there had been nothing wrong with the move, Tim was performing without sufficient rest. That demonstrates guts and nerves of steel. In baseball, Hudson is a figure of inspiration.
When the final week of the 2010 Major League Baseball arrived, Hudson was throwing routinely on short rest. In what was termed a do-or-die final game, Hudson delivered the Atlanta Braves to the playoffs. The ball club had no complaints but their stay in
post season was nevertheless, short.
Braves’ backup catcher, David Ross, had a chance to talk about Hudson recently. The two share a long history together. The two played for Auburn University a long time ago. In 1997, the duo managed to play with the squad that sent the institution to the
College World Series when it seemed things were going to end differently.
"There's some redneck that comes out", Hudson admits. "I guess you can call it the redneck coming out, or the fire being lit under your [rear]. Sometimes you need that".
Ross was able to talk about the race to the playoffs with Hudson. The ace pitcher was the last man to report for action in a routine Major League Baseball season finale. He faced the Florida Marlins and managed to pitch six innings, conceding just one run
in the process.
To summarize it, Ross spoke of Hudson in a positive tone.
"That guy has [guts]", Ross said. "When it's on the line, there's nobody that has the [guts] that he has. That redneck in him comes out, and he bears down. He's got that inside of him, and when it comes out, you're not going to beat him".
Hudson availed the 2010 National League Comeback Player of the Year award as a reward for his services to the club.
