Tim Hudson shines as Atlanta Braves overwhelm Milwaukee Brewers 8-0 – MLB Update
Tim Hudson pitched an unbreakable spell and the Atlanta Braves’ defence put a splendid display to beat the Milwaukee Brewers 8-0 at Turner Field, Atlanta on Wednesday, May 4.
While Zack Greinke did not get even minor backup from his defence, Hudson could look with unshakable hope at his team’s hitters who did everything to live up to the pitcher’s expectations. Nate McLouth and Freddie Freeman’s two-run doubles gave enough to
Atlanta to take the lead and eventually rout the Brewers.
Greinke was obviously disappointed but tried to strike a moderate reaction to avoid routine suggestions of how best to improve his game in the upcoming encounters.
The Brewers team manager, Ron Roenicke, was equally cautious when his opinion was sought on Greinke’s performance. “I didn't expect him to go out there and throw all zeros," said Brewers manager Ron Roenicke of Greinke. "It's nice to have him back. He is
going to compete. But I don't think it's fair to think he's going to go out and be the same guy [right away] that we've seen the last few years."
When Zack came out to pitch for the Brewers, Dan Uggla was the first to open the account for the Braves. Uggla singled to left off the nervous Greinke’s fastball. Not only that, the inning saw a couple of errors too which added to the frustration of Greinke.
Hudson, on the other hand, was unhittable. He kept pitching effective fastballs while Martin Prado scored the second run for the Braves.
Eric Hinske’s single in the fourth inning took the score to three for the Braves and soon after that, the struggling Greinke gave up another hit that allowed Nate McLouth a two-run homer, upping the lead to 5-0. Zack’s inability to contain the Braves’ defence
forced the Brewers’ coach to switch the starting pitcher and replace him with Brandon Kintzler. However, that was hardly a good idea for the team as Hinske scored another single to take the lead to 6-0.
Meanwhile, Hudson was having a favorable day. His effective technique bore fruit as he was pitching shut-out innings while John Axford, who came out to pitch for the Brewers, was subject to another hit by Freeman. He got a two-run homer to give the eighth
run of the game to the Braves. This was successfully defended by Hudson, thereby giving Atlanta a conclusive 8-0 victory over the Brewers.
