Tim Hudson’s brilliance leads Atlanta Braves to a 2-1 win against Philadelphia Phillies-MLB Update

Starter Tim Hudson puts up a splendid show on the mound as he leads the Atlanta Braves to a 2-1 victory against the Philadelphia Phillies at Citizens Bank Park, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on September 23, 2012 in the last game of the three match series.
Quietness of the Phillies’ offence made the path toward victory easy for the Braves. Just two hits from their batters throughout the game meant that a miracle was needed to win. Their dismal performance was the reason behind the victory for the Braves despite
the fact the latter were not at their best on Sunday.
Atlanta posted two runs and yet they ended up earning the triumph.
Braves’ two-run lead was threatened by Philadelphia in the bottom of the sixth. The sacrifice fly by the second baseman of Philadelphia namely Chase Utley led the base-runner aboard as a result their deficit was reduced to one run.
However, the fact Phillies did not show any resistance afterwards allowed the Braves to clinch the triumph eventually.
Tim Hudson wreaked the bulk of the damage as he yielded just two hits in little more than seven innings. He struck-out four and gave up just one run. He recorded his 16th win of the season.
Such a dominant performance by Hudson spells a positive sign for Atlanta in light of the fact that the playoffs are around the corner.
Hudson’s counterpart Cliff Lee suffered the loss despite striking-out 11. It has not happened with Lee for the first time that he completed a quality spell of innings and yet he faced the defeat.
At the start of the season poor run support by Philadelphia’s offence made him experience failures which were not entirely reflective of his fault.
Hudson is excited for the upcoming matches. He wants to see his team playing in the playoffs and performing well there.
"I have one or two more starts before, hopefully, we get into the playoffs and it really starts counting," Hudson said.
Braves will like to continue with their momentum and make sure they win the remaining games of the season. It will be interesting to see as to what win-loss record they end the season with.
