Tim Kennedy believes Strikeforce middleweights can compete with UFC Top 10 – UFC News
Tim Kennedy, Strikeforce middleweight, believes Strikeforce middleweights are capable enough to compete and beat with UFC Top 10 contenders. Kennedy fought Robbie Lawler last and defeated him with a unanimous decision at Strikeforce: “Fedor vs. Henderson”.
The victory was Tim’s second victory after his failed attempt to grab the title from Ronaldo Souza in 2010.
Kennedy also won the Army Bronze Star medal for his brave act under fire. He is now set to face Strikeforce Middleweight champion Luke Rockhold, who broke his hand while defending his title against Keith Jardine earlier this year. This will be Rockhold’s
second ever title defense against Kennedy.
While talking about the upcoming fight, Kennedy stated, “Luke broke his hand in his last fight against Keith Jardine. They won't let me fight anybody else. I said I'd fight anybody, but they're like, 'No, you're going to fight Luke', which is awesome, and
now, I'm just waiting. I've been waiting for a while and I'm just going to keep waiting and keep training, as if I have a fight in two months. When they finally say, 'Here it is', I'll be ready to go.”
Commenting on why so many guys are leaving the organisation so frequently, he said, “When you see guys that are vacating other organizations like Hector Lombard, you know, is there an opportunity for him to be brought over to us? Absolutely not. Nobody has
even considered it.”
According to Kennedy, fighters are going to UFC because they know they have better opportunities there and that they can easily fight with the Top 10 there. In other words, they know they are good enough to climb up the ladder sooner than they can in Strikeforce.
On his career, Tim said that he wishes he would have fought more since he had compromised on his military career to be a fighting star. He further added that he knows what he wants to achieve in this field and that he wishes he is always in the cage fighting
someone or the other. He finally said that he will leave the industry once he knows he has achieved all what he wanted to.
