Tim Linley signs two-year deal with Surrey
Surrey medium pacer Tim Linley has signed a new two-year deal with Surrey County Cricket Club that will keep him with the side until the end of 2012 season.
The 28-year-old seam bowler has been with SCCC since 2008. He had a remarkable 2010 season with the club in which he claimed 20 scalps while playing for the first team. His performance in the first team was backed by the 23 wickets
he picked up for Surrey’s second eleven. The successful season earned him another two years at The Oval.
The right-arm medium pacer had a major part of the season battling a freak foot injury which he picked up soon after he recorded astounding figures of 4 for 13 in a County Championship Division Two clash against Derbyshire at Chesterfield
– a match that the Lions won by 42 runs.
According to a Surrey press release, the two-year contract will help Linley gain stability in his game and develop himself as a consistent pacer. Linley is seeking a place in the first team of the county comprising of young talents
such as Matthew Dunn, Stuart Meaker and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Surrey-c851’s 21-year-old all-rounder Chris Jordan.
Talking about his new deal with the Surrey Lions, Linley said that he is very excited to be part of the county.
“Signing on for two years at Surrey is the culmination of a huge amount of hard work and is a very rewarding feeling,” said the 28-year-old Leeds pacer. “Surrey is a massive club moving in the right direction and I am very excited
to be a part of it for the next two seasons.”
Chris Adams, the Professional Cricket Manager of the SCCC praised the hard work the seamer did during the 2010 season to get the deal.
“Often the part you don't see as a supporter or a member is what a player brings into a dressing room and Tim is a fantastic team man, is good to have around and brings a great deal to the squad,” Adams added.
