Tim McIntosh century puts Kiwis in front at Hyderabad
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Hyderabad-c792. The two teams had drawn the first Test match of the series at Motera in Ahmedabad.
New Zealand had no hesitation in opting to bat first after their captain Daniel Vettori won the toss. However, the Kiwis did not have a great start to their innings as Brendon McCullum failed to get anything on the board before being dismissed off the bowling
of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/MS-Dhoni-c2028.
This was followed by Sreesanth producing another excellent delivery that took the edge of the number three batsman, Martin Guptill. MS Dhoni held a simple catch again, but the umpires decided to refer the delivery to the third umpire. The third umpire confirmed
the existence of a no-ball and the batsman was recalled to the crease.
A disappointed Sreesanth walked back to his bowling mark and failed to get another wicket through the rest of the day.
At the other end, Tim McIntosh, who had been given a life by the selectors after he had scored two ducks in the previous game, batted manfully. He eschewed all the risky shots and allowed deliveries outside the off-stump to pass by without problem.
Guptill and McIntosh were involved in a 147-run stand for the second wicket before Guptill was finally dismissed by by Pragyan Ojha. Ojha trapped him in front of the wicket, lbw, for a well-made 85.
Guptill may have missed out on a well-deserved century, but McIntosh continued to bat on and finally got to his ton. Ross http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Taylor-c92915 gave him support and looked good to take the side to the stumps with only two wickets lost.
However, Zaheer Khan returned back for another spell and managed to take two wickets. First, it was Taylor who fished at a ball outside the off-stump and could only manage to edge it to MS Dhoni. McIntosh was the other batsman who lost his concentration after
getting to his century and was bowled when he inside-edged a delivery from Zaheer.
What was unfortunate for the centurion was that it was only ten balls before the end of the day’s play that he was bowled.
Zaheer ended the day with two wickets while Sreesanth and Ojha had one apiece. Ryder was unbeaten on 22.
