Tim Tebow "honoured" to be a New York Jet - NFL News
Tim Tebow had been relatively quiet after the trade was announced that the Denver Broncos are moving the quarterback to New York Jets in return for a fourth and sixth round draft pick.
The 24-year-old’s Twitter account remained without an update for 18-days since the trade was first confirmed.
Now though Tebow is back on the social media platform after his huge press conference at the Jets practice field which is unprecedented for someone brought in as a backup quarterback.
The quarterback posted on the website his excitement at being a Jet and working with his new teammates.
"I've already said it 44 times so here goes number 45: I'm really excited to be a Jet! Haha! All joking aside it's truly an honour to be a Jet and I'm anxiously looking forward to going to work with all of my new teammates and coaches. Fireman Ed and the
rest of Jets nation, I'm gonna play my heart out for you. J-E-T-S JETS! JETS! JETS!"
Tebow also went on to praise his former team and thanked the Denver Broncos fans for supporting him throughout his time at the franchise.
"Well, that was an interesting couple of weeks! Now that things have finally settled down a bit, I wanted to take a moment to thank all you great Denver fans for all of your support,"
The quarterback also thanked his coaches and teammates for helping him realising his dream of becoming a professional football player.
He also said that last season’s push for the playoffs and winning the American Football Conference (AFC) West division was something he will always cherish.
The Broncos were reeling 1-4 early in the season when Tebow replaced Kyle Orton as the starter and began one of the most astonishing turnarounds.
The quarterback won game after game with some astonishing fourth quarter turnarounds and led the Broncos to the AFC West division title and a spot in the wildcard rounds of the playoffs.
Tebow was exceptional once again as he led Denver to a memorable 29-23 overtime victory against the heavily favoured Pittsburgh Steelers.
Now he will hope to repeat the same performances for the Jets when called upon. For now Tebow remains the backup at his new franchise but that could all change when the new 2012-13 season starts.
