Tim Visser called into Scotland’s squad – Rugby News Update
Tim Visser, the 24-year-old winger of Dutch descent is tipped to make his international debut for Scotland after he was called into the squad by head coach Andy Robinson for the country’s summer tour.
Scotland will playing three matches on the summer tour. They take on Australia at New South Wales on June 5. From there they will travel to Fiji, to play the tiny island in the Pacific Ocean at Lautoka on June 16, and they end their tour with a game against
Samoa on June 23 at Apia.
Vissier has recently qualified for Scottish residency, and having been named RaboDirect PRO12 Player of the Year on May 6, he was naturally called into the squad, something he was ecstatic about.
"I'm very honoured, having lived here for such a long time now I've got to know the country and the people very well and I feel very much part of the country," Visser said. "I feel really at home here and the people have been great. I would love to represent
Scotland."
He is also joined into the team by Tom Brown, the Edinburgh back, who is also uncapped at the international level. He wants to take his good form into the national team.
He said, "My confidence has gone through the roof since last year and being involved in the (Heineken Cup) quarter and the semi-final, that was a huge step-up and I'm relishing the opportunity to go up another level."
