Tim Visser to make his long-awaited debut – Rugby News Update
Tim Visser, the 25-year-old Dutch born Edinburgh winger is set to make his debut for Scotland against Fiji, on Saturday, June 16.
The current Scotland head coach, Andy Robinson, had signed the winger from Newcastle Falcons in 2009, when he was the boss at the Scottish club. He has finally qualified for Scotland after earning his residency. The winger has been the top scorer in the
RaboDirect PRO12 League for the last three years and he has made three successive Magners League/PRO12 Dream Teams.
Robinson was naturally delighted with his inclusion and cannot wait for the winger to give Scotland that added verve going forward, considering that scoring tries has been the major downfall of the team in the recent past.
"It is simple, he has to bring the way he plays for Edinburgh onto the international stage," Robinson said. "What Tim has to do is bring the support lines that he runs and his ability to score tries."
"He is very elusive in his ability to beat people and when he has the ball in hand he has the ability to take players on and has to be encouraged to have a real go."
Scotland is still relishing the win against Australia last week, and feel confident going into the match against Fiji. They will be hoping to win against the Island nation, and take their form into the last game against Samoa. Robinson was under pressure
before the tour to achieve results, but it looks likely that the Scots might win the remaining two games.
To boost their chances of winning, they have called upon the experienced centre, Max Evans, who missed the victory against the Wallabies. Evans will replace Sean Lamont in the team, as he suffered a rib injury during the match against Australia; however
he could make the bench.
Visser will want to impress on his debut and the stage is set for him to mark his maiden Test with a try.
