Tim Wallburger and Helge Meeuw stun the arena at the German World Championship Trials: Day 3
Five swimmers in the remaining five meets on day three of the German World Championship Trials produced stunning performances in the Men’s 200m freestyle, Men’s 50m back-stroke, Women’s 50m back-stroke, Women’s 200m back-stroke and Women’s 100m butterfly
events in Berlin, Germany, on June 2.
In the initial meet of Men’s 200m freestyle, Tim Wallburger of Germany snatched the first spot with a sterling time of 1 minute and 48.34 seconds and jumped to 21st place in the world rankings. Paul Biedermann picked up the top two seed in 1 minute
and 48.36 seconds and improved to 24th place in the world rankings. Meanwhile, Markus Deibler captured third spot in the prelims with a time of 1 minute and 48.78 seconds.
On the other hand, the Men’s 50m back-stroke title was clinched by Helge Meeuw of Germany with a winning time of 25.48 seconds, while Christian Diener wound up second in 25.67 seconds. Stefan Herbst settled third in a time of 25.97 seconds. Finally, Jan-Philip
Glania was placed fourth in 25.97 seconds for his 26th place in the world rankings.
In the Women’s 50m back-stroke event, Christin Zenner nabbed the first place honours with a sterling time of 29.36 seconds. Jenny Mensing snared second spot with a time of 29.37 seconds and Lippok earned third position in a time of 29.44 seconds.
In the meantime, the Women’s 200m back-stroke event was grabbed by Jenny Mensing with a winning time of 2 minutes and 12.54 seconds. Lippok wound up second in 2 minutes and 14.68 seconds, while Christin Zenner was placed third in a time of 2 minutes and
15.27 seconds.
In the fifth and last race of the day, Sina Sutter of Western Germany snagged the Women’s 100m butterfly title with a victorious time of 59.69 seconds. On the other hand, Michalak earned second spot in 59.85 seconds and Alexandra Wenk wound up third in a
time of 1 minute and 00.00 seconds.
Swimming events on day four of the German World Championship Trials are scheduled to take place in Berlin, Germany, on June 3.
