Tim Wilkinson secures the ninth position at the Panama Claro Championship
Tim Wilkinson finished at the ninth position on the Nationwide Tour event of Panama Claro Championship, enjoying his game.
The 33-year-old professional was the only New Zealander who appeared on top of the leaderboard. He displayed an amazing performance and tied with many others as well.
With amazing left-handed strokes, he scored a 2-over par and 281 strokes in total, at the sensational site of the Panama Golf Club, Panama City in Panama.
His starting two rounds were impressive, but he failed to attract the spectators in the rest of the two rounds.
He was able to score only 11 birdies, 49 pars and unimpressive 12 bogeys as well.
Wilkinson turned professional in 2003 and since then, he is struggling to win his first title. However, he now has to wait for the next tournament, as he again lost the chance to lead over the Americans.
He has never won any professional title. His performance can be matched against the others.
He is working hard to improve his game. It has been a long while since he has been struggling but he has always remained hopeless.
The American Edward Loar is the proud winner of the tournament. He recorded his debut win at the Nationwide Tour and impressed all the field members and spectators as well.
The 34-year-old American professional was tremendous on the course and won the title with one-stroke lead over four contenders.
He became nervous on the course and failed to impress the spectators in the final round of the tournament.
He carded three bogeys and one double bogey as well. Scoring multiple over-pars took his scores down, but he saved his game on the final hole by recording a six-foot par amazingly.
"Yeah, I was nervous," Loar said. "It was the first time in a while that I'd been in the lead, especially on a stage like this. I think anybody that said they weren't is crazy".
He added, "On a course like this anything can happen as it's shown all week. Unfortunately, it came up and bit me a couple of times".
The Panama Claro Championship was the second Nationwide Tour event for Wilkinson and his best finish as well.
He had also played Pacific Rubiales Colombia Championship presented by Samsung in February and finished at the 50th position.
If he wants to end his winless career, then he should improve his driving distance and scoring average with accuracy. Swing improvements can also help him in the upcoming tournaments.
