Timber treatment against termites?

I would like to know what is the best chemical to spray on kitchen cabinet made of timber to prevent termite attack. The chemical should be non or very low toxic against human, last several years (5 years), preferably a termite repellant, not a termiticide. Thank you.

I have heard of using borax for killing ants. Borax has low toxicity in mammals but very toxic for insects. I searched and found that is used for protecting wood from termites as well. There are a few links below that you might want to check out.
