  1. Its 5 hrs to London. Western Wales may only be 4 hrs.

  2. 5 hrs

  3. North Carolina is in the Eastern Time Zone in the US, and the UK is 5 hours AHEAD of NC. So, if it is 6 pm in North Carolina, for instance, it would be 11 pm in the UK.

Time zones ADD 1 hour going EAST for each 15 degrees longitude, and LOSE an hour going WEST per 15 deg.  The International Date Line/Greenwich Mean Time is at 180 degrees longitude going east/west.

A time line is easy to figure out: just make 25 marks on a sheet of paper to represent your hours (the middle--or 13th-- line is for 0 degrees).  Start numbering from one side (15, 30, 45,60...180) and then do the reverse count down the other side so you end up with 15 on top and bottom (or left and right). To see what I mean, this "World Time Zones and Time Zone Map" is on http://www.infoplease.com/ipa/A0855474.h...

PS--when trying to figure the time for a location at, for instance, 85 degrees East longitude, you round UP to the nearest line (90 degrees) instead of going back to the 75 degree line.

Also, your local telephone directory should have a page at the front of the book titled "INTERNATIONAL AREA CODES" where the countries are listed A-Z with their "international calling code numbers in bold print (for instance, ours says --as an example--"UNITED KINGDOM 44...+5".  The calling code is 44; the +5 is the time difference--meaning 5 hours ahead). Some cities are listed under each (like Liverpool 151. This means the city/area code is 151 for the city of Liverpool.  To call  the UK from the USA:

    http://www.howtocall.info/country/Englan...

    1. Dial 011 (the international access code)

    2. then dial 44 (the country code for England)

3.then dial the city code for that phone number

If you don't see the city code here (list on website), dial 00 to ask the long-distance operator

then dial the local telephone number

depending on your phone company, you may be able to finish by pressing #, which will connect the call more quickly.

(Didn't know if you needed the info to place a phone call, but thought I'd add it anyway. Hope it all helps.)

  4. should be five hours. i live in missouri (central timezone) and its 6 hours here. :]
