Time Waner Cable Box?

I have a Motorolla Time waner Cable box and i was wandering what the ethernet port and the usb ports were for that are in the back of the box?

  1. Hello. Motorola makes that boxes for all cable companies. These ports are usually not activated on most of the boxes. They are just dummy ports. This is ensure that no one takes part in copywrite infringement.


  2. To maintenance the box these inputs exist.  They may also be accessed for other reasons but Time Warner does not allow customers to know how.

    If the box is a DVR these ports allegedly can be hacked to allow access to the content on the hard drive.  But I prefer to leave the box alone and record the video and audio output of the box to my DVD recorder.  That way I am not violating the law (time shifting is allowed) and the cable company will take the box back when I need a new one.
