I have a DVR through TimeWarner - Los Angeles and it has a USB port on the front, can I put recorded shows on a flash drive? And how?

  1. no, usb and sata ports on cable boxes are not activated at the manufacturer,  at the request of the cable company to prevent copywrite infringement.
