Ok I am very concerned. I currently live in Los Angeles, CA and I am moving to Manhattan, NY. They are 3 hours ahead. I am very concerned about losing 3 hours of my life. What can I do to cope with this?

  1. If flying, do it while you are sleeping, so you'll never know. If you are driving, the time zones are spread far enough apart so you'll hardly even notice. Besides, it's only three hours. It'll be like watching a political debate, long, but glad it is over.

  2. I'd be more concerned with the winters you'll be facing and horrible humid summers. 3 hours of your life is nothing in comparison. Believe me I've been there. I moved from Chicago to california in 1982 and the novelty of not having winter still hasn't gone.

If you like clothes, just think of it as being able to get a whole new wardrobe.

  3. You're not "losing" 3 hours - you're gaining them.  You'll be moving to a time zone that's ahead of the one you're used to.

So, you'll experience 9 am three hours before your West Coast counterparts.  Think of all you can accomplish while the people on the West Coast are still sleeping!  Then you'll be at home relaxing after work or school, while they're still stuck working!

Yes, you'll lose time when you initially travel there, but that's true of all travel.

  4. done it every summer of my life for 15 years then back west in the winter you just get up earlier and in about 1 week your on the same time, you don't "lose" time you adjust.

  5. Fly the other way. Go over Eurpope and the National date line.
